NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 24, 1999, a Cessna 172M, 8R-GHA, lost engine power during an attempted go-around at Skull Point Airport, Guyana. The airplane impacted trees and was destroyed by fire. The flight was conducted under Guyanese Civil Aviation Authority rules. A teardown examination of the engine will be conducted at Lycoming Engines under the supervision of the National Transportation Safety Board. The accident is under the jurisdiction of the Civil Aviation Department, Georgetown, Guyana.
