NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On September 20, 1994, about 1500 Atlantic standard time, N8374Y, a Piper PA32R-301T registered to Robertson Construction Inc., crashed on Long Island, Bahamas while on a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a VFR flight plan was filed. The airplane was substantially damaged and the pilot and five passengers reported no injuries. The flight originated from Cat Island, Bahamas, about 1400 the same day. The pilot stated that the engine failed due to fuel exhaustion and he executed a forced landing to an open area. During landing roll the left wing struck a tree and broke off the fuselage.
