NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 26, 1995, about 1430 eastern daylight time, a Cessna 550, N7RC, registered to Ring Can Corporation, operating as a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight, crashed short of the runway at Walkers Cay Airport, Abaco Islands, Bahamas. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and an IFR flight plan was filed. The airplane was destroyed by postcrash fire. The airline- transport pilot and four passengers sustained minor injuries. The flight originated from Naples, Florida, about 51 minutes before the accident. The pilot stated to personnel from the Office of the Director of Civil Aviation that he landed short of the runway in the overrun, lost control of the airplane, went off the right side of the runway and collided with a tree. The right wing separated, the airplane caught fire, and slid about 300 feet before coming to a complete stop. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of the Bahamas.
