NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On March 17, 1996, at 1212 universal coordinated time, a Britten Norman BN2A-21, N904WA, operated by the Wagner Foundation, of Lyons, Wisconsin, struck terrain near Njardvik, Iceland. The airplane was destroyed, and the pilot received minor injuries. The weather conditions and type of flight plan are unknown. The flight was operated under 14 CFR Part 91. According to the initial notification from the Civil Aviation Administration, Iceland, the airplane had departed Reykjavik Airport, Iceland, and was en route to Narssarssuaw Airport, Greenland, when it lost power in one engine, and attempted a forced landing in rough terrain, about 500 meters from the village of Njardvik, Iceland. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Iceland.
