NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On June 22, 1998, at 0005 UTC, an Air 2000 Ltd. Boeing 757-2Y0, flying between Larnaca, Cyprus, and Manchester, England, experienced a loud bang and sparks coming from the overhead cockpit panel. Multiple ECAS messages followed. The incident occurred at flight level 270 and the flight diverted back to Larnaca. None of the 217 passengers and crewmembers onboard were injured. This incident is being investigated by the British Air Accidents Investigation Branch.
