NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On October 20, 1998, at about 22:15 UTC, a Miami Air Boeing 727, N886MA, chartered by Air France, descended to about 200 feet about 4 miles out on approach to Point a Pitre, French Indies. The aircraft had departed Port a Prince, Haiti, and run into weather enroute. During the flight and approach the crew transmitted to the Point a Pitre air traffic control that they were running short of fuel. The aircraft landed safety and there were no injuries to any of the passengers or crew. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the French BEA.
