DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL AT A PRIVATE GRAVEL AND SOD AIRSTRIP, THE COMMERCIAL PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL, DEPARTED THE RUNWAY, WENT THROUGH A DITCH, AND CAME TO REST ON AN EMBANKMENT.
