NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On November 26, 1999, at 0526 local time, the pilot and three passengers onboard a Cessna 208, Kenyan registry 5Y-RAN were fatally injured, as the airplane departed Jomo Kenyatta Airport (HKNA), Nairobi, Kenya. The damage to the airplane is unknown. The flight was en route to Dar es Salaam (HTDA), Tanzania.
According to press reports, the airplane belonged to Kenyan Charter Company Aircraft Leasing Services, and was ferrying cargo to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The airplane occupants were Kenyans and worked for the company. In addition, the press reported a "heavy mist" was present at the time of takeoff.
The Safety Board has assigned an accredited representative. However, no travel is planned. A technical representative from Cessna Aircraft Company will travel to the site.
