NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

DURING PUSHBACK AND WHILE STARTING THE #4 ENGINE THE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT WHICH PROVIDES ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE ENGINE STARTER TRIPPED OFF THE LINE. THE LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE ENGINE STARTER RESULTED IN A HUNG START AT APPROXIMATELY 25% N2 RPM. WITHOUT ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE STARTER THE ENGINE COULD NOT BE MOTORED CONSEQUENTLY POOLED FUEL CONTINUED TO BURN WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CREW WAS ADVISED OF THE FIRE CONDITION, DISCHARGED THE #4 ENGINE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND ORDERED AN EVACUATION OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE FIRE TERMINATED SHORTLY AFTER THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE EVACUATION.
