NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On February 15, 2000, about 1946 Coordinate Universal Time, a Cessna 340A, OY-BSO, was substantially damaged when it impacted trees while landing at the Stauning Airport, Stauning, Denmark. The pilot and five passengers were not injured. Instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) prevailed, and an instrument flight rules flight plan was filed and activated for the personal flight conducted under foreign flight rules. According to the Government of Denmark, the airplane was executing an instrument approach at night when the airplane contracted trees. The pilot executed a climb, and was able to land the airplane without further incident. Examination of the airplane revealed substantial damage to the horizontal stabilizer, and minor damage to the bottom of the airplane. This investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Denmark.
