NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On September 7, 2001 at 1215 coordinated universal time (UTC), a Boeing 767-332, N194DN, owned and operated by Delta Airlines, Inc., as Flight 101, encountered moderate turbulence while descending out of 20, 000 feet near Buenos Aires, Argentina. The seatbelt sign was illuminated but a passenger while enroute to the Lavatory fractured her left ankle. The remainder of the flight was uneventful. Instrument meteorological conditions prevailed and an international instrument flight rules (IFR) flight plan was filed for the Title 14 CFR Part 121 commercial flight. The two flight crew members, three flight attendants and 84 passengers were not injured. One passenger sustained a fractured left ankle and the airplane was not damaged. The flight originated in Atlanta, Georgia at 0213 UTC, on September 6, 2001. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the government of Argentina.
