NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
DHL flight 951, N806DH, had been cleared for takeoff on runway 05L at Mexico City. At approximately 100 knots during the takeoff roll, the flightcrew observed an Air France B-777 turning onto the active runway in their direction. The DHL crew rejected the takeoff and veered off the runway to the right to avoid a collision with the Air France airplane. The DHL airplane departed runway 05L approximately 3,500 feet from approach end at 80-100 kts and traveled through muddy grass for another 1,000 feet. The DHL captain estimated clearance with the Air France airplane at 100 feet. The investigation is being conducted by the Mexican government.
