NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On January 14, 2002, about 0315 Universal Time Coordinated (UTC), or 2215 local time, a Boeing 737-200, Indonesian registration PK-LID, operated by Lion Airlines as flight 386, overran runway 18 during an rejected takeoff at the Sultan Syarif Qasim Il Airport in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. During the overrun, the airplane struck a fence and was substantially damaged. Of the 103 passengers and crew on board, at least 7 passengers received minor injuries during the subsequent emergency evacuation. There were no fatalities. The investigation is being conducted by the Republic of Indonesian; Department of Communications; National Transportation Safety Committee; Gedung Karsa Lt. 2; Jalan Medan Medeka Barat No. 8 JKT 10110; Indonesia.
