NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On January 15, 2003 a Federal Express, registration N583FE, lost a portion of its left inboard flap vane while on approach to Stansted Airport (STN), United Kingdom . The cargo flight had originated from Charles De Gaulle International Airport (CDG), France. The flight crew were not injured but the airplane was substantially damaged. There was no ground damage or injuries to persons on the ground. The investigation is under the control of the United Kingdom's Air Accidents Investigations Branch (AAIB).
