NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On August 21, 2003, about 1600 Atlantic standard time, a Cessna 150, Dominican Republic registration, HI-648SP, registered to and operated by an individual, crashed near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and the flight plan information is unknown The airplane was substantially damaged and the pilot and a mechanic were seriously injured. The flight originated about 22 minutes earlier from the Las Americas Airport, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Preliminary information indicates that approximately 22 minutes into the flight, an occupant of the airplane broadcast having an emergency for unspecified reasons. The airplane crashed into terrain 5 miles southeast of Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of the Dominican Republic.
