NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On September 21, 2003, about 1345 eastern daylight time, a Maule MX-7-160, N141DF, ground looped during landing at Governor's Harbour Airport, Eleuthera Island, Bahamas, while on a 14 CFR Part 91 personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a visual flight rules flight plan was filed. The airplane received substantial damage and the private-rated pilot and one passenger were not injured. The flight originated from Fort Pierce, Florida, the same day, about 1000. The pilot stated that during landing roll on runway 15, the airplane ground looped. The propeller and right wing contacted the ground and the right main landing gear collapsed.
