NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On November 28, 2003, about 1515 Atlantic standard time, A Cessna 206, Venezuelan registration YV-874C, registered and operated by Wayumi Air Tax Company, impacted with terrain shortly after takeoff from "La Esmeralda" airstrip located at Autonomo Alto Orinoco, Estado Amazonas, Venezuela. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and flight plan information is not known. The airplane incurred substantial damage. The commercial rated pilot and the five passengers sustained minor injuries. The flight was originating at the time of the accident.
Preliminary information received by the NTSB indicated the airplane impacted with terrain a minute after takeoff. The pilot and the passengers were aided out of the damaged airplane and rendered medical treatment by local residents. They were later flown to Puerto Ayacucho, Venezuela.
