NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 20, 2004, a U.S.-registered, float equipped Cessna 180J, N9768P, sustained substantial damage subsequent to a hard water landing and nose down near Echo Bay, British Columbia, Canada. The airplane is owned by the pilot, and was being operated as a visual flight rules (VFR) cross-country flight when the accident occurred. The private pilot and two passengers aboard the airplane were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and a flight plan was on file for the cross-county flight that originated from Nanaimo, British Columbia. The investigation of this accident is under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
