NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On July 26 at 1658 Australian EST, a Jetstar Airways Boeing 717-200, experienced a burning smell in the cabin while in flight. Cabin crew discovered an interphone handset was hot to the touch. They alerted the flight crew, who performed the electrical smoke/fumes of unknown origin checklist, and diverted the aircraft to Mackay Aerodrome. There were no reported injuries. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating.
