NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On November 11, 2004, about 1030 central standard time, a Cessna 310, El Salvador registration TG-WOT, operated as a business flight, impacted terrain while en route to Ilopango, El Salvador. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and an instrument flight plan was filed. The Salvadoran certificated pilot and four passengers received fatal injuries, and the airplane was destroyed. The flight originated in La Aurora, Guatemala, the same day, about 0930. Information received by the NTSB indicated that on the morning of the accident, three airplanes with Guatemalan business leaders onboard, departed from La Aurora, Guatemala, for a flight to Ilopango, El Salvador, to attend a meeting of leaders of the Salvadoran Foundation for Economic and Social Development, and only two of the three airplanes arrived. According to the information, after waiting for about 20 minutes for the other airplane to arrive, news came that the third airplane had impacted terrain, in the vicinity of a volcano on the outskirts of the city of San Salvador, El Salvador. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of El Salvador.
