NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On July 26, 2005, about 0940 central standard time, a Cessna 208B, of Guatemala registration TG-APG, operated by Aereo Ruta Maya, S.A., impacted into rising terrain during an aerial application in Cuilco, Guatemala. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and a company visual flight rule plan was filed. The commercial-rated pilot and the technician passenger were fatally injured; the airplane was destroyed. The flight originated from Champerico, Retalhuleu, Guatemala, earlier that day, about 0800. Preliminary information received from the Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil of Guatemala stated that the accident airplane was on a mosquito eradication aerial application flight. The pilot had been in radio communication with the company and other airplanes flying in that area. No distress calls where report from that area during the time of the accident. The accident airplane impacted the side of a mountain and a fire ensued. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Guatemala.
