NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On November 3, 2005, at 1345 Pacific standard time, a Boeing Vertol BV-107 II, C-GHFT, operated by Helifor Industries as an external load logging operation, experienced an in-flight break-up while maneuvering at a logging site near Bella Bella, Canada. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and no flight plan was filed. The helicopter was destroyed and the two flight crew pilots were fatally injured. During the logging operation with a long line attached (no load), and maneuvering up hill to pickup another load, the helicopter was seen to break apart into two pieces and fall from about 300 feet above ground level. The helicopter was destroyed by impact forces and a small post-crash fire. This report is for information purposes only. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Canada.
