NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 14, 2006, about 1648 Atlantic Standard Time, a Cessna 208B, CP-2413, of Bolivian registration, registered to and operated by Amaszonas, made a force landing on a road following loss of engine power, near El Alto, Bolivia. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a visual flight rules flight plan was filed. The pilot, copilot and nine passengers were not injured. The airplane incurred minor damage. The flight originated from the El Alto Internacional Aeropuerto, earlier that day, about 1643. Information released from the DGAC states the pilot reported 5 minutes after departure, a loud bang came from the engine followed by a total loss of power. He glided the airplane toward a road and landed. However during the landing roll a car was in the path and he elected to veer off the road damaging the main landing gear wheels before coming to a stop. This investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Bolivia. Any further information can be obtained from: Bolivia DGAC Palaco De Comunicaciones Av. Mcal. Santa Cruz No. 1278 4 to PISO La Paz, Bolivia This report is for informational purposes only, and contains information released for or obtained by the Government of Bolivia.
