NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On October 5, 2006, about 1030, mountain daylight time, a Bell 206L helicopter, Canadian registration C-GHBY, operated by Great Slave Helicopters Ltd., Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, departed on a VFR revenue flight for a remote location. During the landing approach, the engine lost power, and the pilot performed an autorotation. Upon touchdown, the helicopter received substantial damage. One passenger received minor injuries. The pilot and the two other passengers were not injured. This report is for information purposes only. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.
