NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On October 13, 2006, at 1810 coordinated universal time (2010 central European Summer Time), a Piper PA-28-140, German registered D-EHFC, owned by Luftsportverein Rietberg e.V., was destroyed when it impacted terrain during a "simulated" instrument approach near Dolsenhain, Germany. Night instrument meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The non instrument rated pilot and one passenger were fatally injured. The flight originated from Paderborn, Germany, and was en route to Altenburg, Germany. The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the German government.
