NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 18, 2007, about 1652 eastern daylight time, a Beech 1900D, N46AR, registered to CSC Applied Technologies LLC, operated by Gulfstream International Airlines, Inc., experienced a loss of engine power from the right engine while applying power to takeoff from the Marsh Harbour International Airport, Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and an IFR flight plan was filed for the 14 CFR Part 121 scheduled, international, passenger flight, from Marsh Harbour to West Palm Beach, Florida. The airplane was not damaged and there were no injuries to the captain, first officer, or 11 passengers. The flight was originating at the time of the occurrence. According to the airline "Incident/Debrief Report", while stopped on the runway with the engines operating, power was applied to both engines first to 1,000 pounds of torque, then when stabilized, both engines were brought to full power. A loud bang was heard and then both power levers were reduced. No fire was observed coming from the right engine, which was then secured. The airplane was then taxied to the ramp and the passengers were deplaned. Preliminary examination of the right engine revealed that some of the 2nd stage power turbine blades were fractured. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of the Bahamas. Any further information pertaining to this accident may be obtained from: Manager of Flight Standards, Bahamas P.O.
