NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On April 18, 2007, at 1715 coordinated universal time, a Sikorsky S61N, registered OY-HGN, owned and operated by Air Greenland, was substantially damaged when it impacted terrain following a loss of power near Gamle Qutdligssat, Greenland. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident. The pilot, 2 crew members, and 24 passengers were not injured. The flight originated from Kapgla, Greenland. The Danish investigators reported that "during approach to the sight-seeing point, the crew observed a dramatic loss of power. The aircraft went down on a cliff with approximately 25 degrees nose up and was substantially damaged." The accident investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the Danish government.
