NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On July 21, 2007, about 1620 Atlantic standard time, a Cessna 208B, Venezuelan registration YV-1182, impacted with terrain following loss of engine power shortly after takeoff at the Antabare Airport, Bolivar, Venezuela. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a company flight plan was filed. The pilot was not injured and the co-pilot was injured. The airplane was destroyed. The flight was originating at the time. Information received by the Venezuelan government states during the initial takeoff climb, about 200 feet above ground level, the flight crew heard a loud bang from the engine followed by a loss of engine power. The propeller was observed in the feathered position immediately after the loss of power by the flight crew. The airplane impacted with the terrain during the force landing, the wings were damaged by trees. The airplane flipped over onto its back when the nose gear dropped into a trench, alone its path of travel, before coming to a stop. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Venezuela.
