NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On September 14, 2007, at 1929 central daylight time, a Boeing 737-200, Mexican registration XA-MAC, was substantially damaged during a gear up landing to Runway 28 at the Guadalajara International Airport, near Guadalajara, State of Jalisco, in the Republic of Mexico. The passenger airplane, serial number 21014, was owned and operated by Magnicharters of Mexico City, Mexico, conducting a domestic non-scheduled passenger flight, The crew of 6 and 103 passengers were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the flight.
According to authorities, Magnicharters flight 582 was en route from Cancun, Mexico with the final destination of Guadalajara, Mexico. During the approach, at the extension of flaps and slats, the crew noticed a dissymmetry of flaps indication and decided to make a go around and select the alternate system for flaps extension. According to a statement made by the pilot, during landing the aircraft touched down with the landing gear in transit.. Both engines contacted the runway. A fire initiated in both engines due to ground friction. The fire and rescue unit, "Cuerpo de Rescate y Extinción de Incendios (CREI)", extinguished the fire with minimal additional damage .
