NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On October 4, 2002, at about 0630 UTC, an Impulse Airlines Boeing 717-200, registered in Australia as VH-VQC, and being operated as a Qantas Airlink flight, had a uncommanded in-flight shutdown of the right engine, a Rolls-Royce Deutschland BR715, shortly after takeoff from Launceton Airport, Tasmania, Australia. The airplane returned to Launceton, for an uneventful single-engine landing. The investigation of this incident is under the jurisdiction of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
