NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

A Korean Airlines Boeing 747-400 cargo airplane powered by Pratt & Whitney PW4056 engines experienced a commanded in-flight shutdown of No. 4 engine during cruise at FL350 en route to Anchorage, Alaska. The flight crew reported that while at FL350, approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes after take off from JFK International Airport, New York, they received a No. 4 engine fail message and engine exhaust gas temperature exceedence. The flight crew shut down the No. 4 engine and the aircraft was diverted to Chicago O'Hare Airport where an uneventful landing was made. The incident is being investigated by the Republic of Korea ARAIB.
