NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On May 9, 2008. about 0645 UTC, N5014V, Bell 206 L-1, operated by Petroleum Helicopters Inc., collided with water near Muanda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The helicopter was repositioning between tanker ships when the collision occurred. The pilot, the sole occupant, was fatally injured. The helicopter is presumed to be destroyed and is submerged in 2500-meter deep water..
The DRC Civil Aviation Authority is conducting an investigation. The US Accredited Representative is Dennis Jones, NTSB, Washington, D.C.
