NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On May 20, 2005, at 0635 UTC time, a Boeing 777-232, registration N864DA, operated by Delta Airlines taxied past the stop line entering gate 50 at London Gatwick International Airport. The No. 1 engine struck the airbridge, resulting in substantial damage to both. There were no injuries to the 296 passengers and 13 crew members. The investigation is being conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Branch, Department for Transport of the United Kingdom. The NTSB has appointed an Accredited Representative to assist the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the State of Manufacture and Design of the airplane.
