NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On May 29, 2010, at 0945 coordinated universal Time (UTC), a Beechcraft E-55 airplane, N554RB, registered and operated by a private owner in Great Brittan as a personal flight, collided with terrain shortly after takeoff from San Luis aerodrome (LESL), Menorca, Spain. Visual Meteorological conditions prevailed. The airplane was substantially damaged and the pilot and passenger were fatally injured. In a video of the accident, the airplane is seen to takeoff and immediately perform a turn with a high bank angle about 150 to 200 feet above the ground. The airplane then performed another turn to the left at about 90 degrees of bank. The airplane then descended into the ground. The pilot was going to participate in a rally that afternoon and was practicing at the time of the accident. The investigation is under the jurisdiction of the Government of Spain.
