NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On July 26, 2012, at 1530 UTC, a Cessna P210N, United States registration N66VS, owned and operated by a Belgian pilot, sustained structural damage when while landing at Antwerp International Airport (EBAW), Antwerp, Belgium, the main landing gear collapsed. The pilot and student pilot passenger on board the airplane were not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed for the local, personal flight. That morning before the flight, the pilot-owner had the airplane cleaned in preparation for a holiday trip. During the cleaning the hydraulic oil for the landing gear had been replenished. After the maintenance was completed, the pilot made a short flight to Hasselt Airport, Belgium, and back. On returning to EBAW, the pilot elected to do an instrument approach. The approach was made with full flaps and the landing gear down. The pilot did not recall if the green landing gear (down) indication light was illuminated. On touchdown during the landing, the airplane began to swing. The main landing gear folded up and the airplane skidded on its belly. This investigation is under the jurisdiction and control of the Belgian government.
