NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On May 25, 2013, at about 0810 UTC, a Russian-operated Transaero Boeing 777, during the climb after takeoff from Vnukovo-Moscow, had the No. 1 engine, a Pratt & Whitney PW4090, have increasing exhaust gas temperature and vibrations that was followed by an engine fire warning. The crew shutdown the engine and diverted to Sheremetyevo-Moscow. The post-landing examination of the engine revealed no fire damage, but three broken 2nd stage turbine blades. The airplane was enroute to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport. This incident is under the investigation of the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
