NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On June 11, 2013, about 0930 central daylight time, a Rogers T-51 Mustang Kit airplane, N548RR, impacted terrain during a forced landing following a loss of engine power near St Francis, Kansas. The pilot was uninjured. The airplane sustained substantial wing and fuselage damage. The airplane was registered to and operated by the pilot under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Visual flight rules conditions (VFR) conditions prevailed for the flight, which did not operate on a VFR flight plan. The local flight originated from the Cheyenne County Municipal Airport (SYF), near St Francis, Kansas, at time unknown.
The airplane was being flown locally when the propeller went to full pitch. The pilot performed a gear up off-field landing on a gravel road near SYF.
