NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On March 9, 2014, about 1430 eastern daylight time, an experimental, amateur-built Kurtz RV-9A, N125TK, was substantially damaged when it nosed over while landing on a private airstrip in Live Oak, Florida. The private pilot was seriously injured and the passenger sustained minor injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan had been filed for the local personal flight which was conducted under the provisions of 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. Photographs provided by the responding Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspector revealed a furrow in the wet sod, consistent with the position of the airplane's nose landing gear, which led to where the airplane came to rest upside down. A distant photograph also included the nose landing gear, which appeared to be collapsed.
