NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident

On August 21, 2014, about 1848 eastern daylight time, an experimental amateur-built RV-4, N62632, was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a total loss of engine power near Polk Township, Pennsylvania. The commercial pilot sustained minor injuries. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and no flight plan was filed for the personal flight, which was operated under the provisions of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91. The pilot reported to a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspector that the airplane was in cruise flight enroute to Beltzville Airport (14N), Lehighton, PA, when the engine experienced a total loss of power. The pilot's attempts to restart the engine were unsuccessful, and he subsequently conducted a forced landing to a field. During the landing, the airplane nosed over and came to rest inverted, resulting in substantial damage to the engine firewall and right wing. A detailed examination of the engine was scheduled for a later date.
