NTSB Narrative Summary Released at Completion of Accident
On December 15, 2013, about 1030 central standard time, a Piper PA-46-350P airplane, N224JJ, departed the side of the runway and the nose wheel collapsed at the Sugar Land Regional Airport (SGR), Houston, Texas. The commercial rated pilot was not injured. The airplane was registered to Dilkara Leasing LLC, Las Vegas, Nevada and operated by a private individual under the provisions of the 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 as a personal flight. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time of the accident.
After landing, the airplane veered off the runway surface. A preliminary examination of the airplane revealed substantial damage to the firewall. The airplane was retained for further inspection.
